Sound of the House
Definitive Worship has now released their first live album, “Sound of the House” on March 31, 2019. This album features 11 original songs written by the team and recorded live during their Sunday morning services. Several of Meredith’s original songs, as well as vocals and keys, are heard throughout the album. The heart behind this album is to let the sound of worship heard on Sunday mornings at Family First be heard everywhere!
Her first full-length album, Refine, features 10 original worship songs written by Meredith Hobbs. The drive and support from Meredith’s vision for this album was to create a piece that would show the vulnerability and simplicity of the worship songs in their truest form. All of the piano tracks were recorded from a beautiful ‘Young Chang’ grand piano, where Meredith stays true to her classical roots as a pianist. Many of the tracks are also layered with ambient pads, acoustic guitars, and more to emphasize the worshipful lyrics. Several of these songs have remained popular with the congregation of her home church and with their worship ministry at Family First in Spring Hill, FL for quite a few years. “Spirit I Come”, “Unveil Yourself”, “Greater Things”, and “Be Still” are among the memorable tracks from this album.
The Ugly Truth EP
As part of Meredith’s senior project at Southeastern University she released her first EP, “The Ugly Truth”, in March 2014. All 4 tracks on the EP were written, recorded, and produced at the Contemporary Music Center in Nashville, TN, where Meredith spent an entire semester studying the music industry. The different songs on this EP tell stories, from an outsider’s perspective, of things that people may try to hide or are afraid of letting others see the truth about them. The sound of this EP is of a singer/songwriting discovering her voice and using creative methods to do so, including using wine glasses on track 1 “You See Me”. Track 4, “Peter’s Lullaby”, was actually written by her friend and talented artist, Cooper Doten, fellow CMC alum.
Definitive Worship is the praise and worship ministry of Family First, led by Pastors Meredith Hobbs and Jared Coats. We serve to create atmospheres of worship with passion and authenticity in our weekly services. We seek to draw attention only to God, in order for hearts to be softened for the preaching of the Word. We exist to give an opportunity for the Holy Spirit to move among the body of Christ. We released our first EP on iTunes & Google Play in 2014 with 5 original songs with a Christian Rock feel. Meredith's original song featured on the album is Track 4, "I'm Not Alone".
You Call Me EP
In addition to making her own EPs and full-length albums, Meredith has also helped in production with other artists to produce their own original EPs. Meredith assisted Jenesis Sierra with her You Call Me EP in October 2016 with production, songwriting, and keys/vocals. This was Jenesis' first recording project, which served to help finance her missions internship in South Africa with Impact Africa for 2 years.
